My research advances fundamental and applied ecology through three main avenues:

1) Revealing how local, regional, and spatial mechanisms interact to alter community assembly and biodiversity

2) Understanding how assembly processes alter the scaling of biodiversity-ecosystem functioning in heterogenous ecosystems

3) Applying these insights to develop ecological forecasts and solve pressing issues in ecosystem management & restoration
